WEBSITE STYLE UPDATE | BRAND GUIDELINES | OMG
It's a pretty cool feeling when your first real client is your actual school.
CLIENT
Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC)
PROJECT SCOPE
Wordpress Template Redesign, Brand Guidelines, Social Media Images, Email Blast

MISSION/CHALLENGE
In order to adapt to the pandemic, MATC's Creative Pathway program has had to replace their annual Portfolio Night event with an online website. This site is meant to highlight the work of their graduates and present potential employers with information about the newly hire-able talent coming out of the program.
OUTCOME
The template was already there for this website, so I created entirely new visual branding, along with an email blast, social media posts, and complete color and font guidelines.
AWARDS/RECOGNITION
This project was a competition between all of the students in our Graphic Design Workshop course.
My design concept won and as of writing this, is a live website for MATC.
DESIGN APPROACH
MY GOALS FOR THIS PROJECT:
-
Have fun with it
We were given complete freedom when it came to this design, and I took full advantage of that. There was no guarantee that my design concept would be chosen regardless, so I let loose.
-
Honor the past, honor the future
MATC has a rich history going back to 1911, and diving into that background gave me some great inspiration.
-
Streeeeeeetch that skillset
Before this project, I had never done half the items we were required to produce, and I had to figure it out on the fly.

MOOD BOARD SNIPPET
PROTOTYPING
THIS IS WHERE ALL THOSE MAKER SKILLS OF MINE COME IN HANDY
Yeah, I have a machine plotter/cutter. (Three of them, actually.)
I also have a small scale print shop of my own, so I got to work making physical versions of my initial dieline concept.
Doing this myself allowed me to quickly produce proof of concept drafts, tweak details, adapt, and move forward without needing to farm it out to a printer or wait between revisions.

THE BACK OF THE INNER BOX (ABOVE) IS STRIPED, AS SEEN IN THE IMAGE TO THE LEFT.

CHECK OUT THAT TINY BEE. HECK YEAH.
